    weekend

After driving from Davidson to Evanston this weekend, I had a nice surprise waiting for me Sunday morning - Scott!  He stayed an extra day after visiting his friends so we could have some time together.  It was really great to see him, even if it did mean driving to O’Hare at 3 AM this morning.

Yesterday after picking him up in Evanston, we drove into Chicago and found a hotel to stay at for the night.  Since the weather was so gross, we decided to stay a few blocks off Michigan Avenue so we could be close to food options and wouldn’t get soaked.  For lunch we grabbed P. F. Chang’s, a throwback to last year’s birthday dinner there.  I got carded for the first time, woohoo!  I ordered a glass of plum wine to go with my lunch - I’ve wanted to try plum wine since I worked as a hostess at an Asian restaurant one summer.  It was okay, but not a flavor I really enjoy, so I doubt I’ll get it again.

In the afternoon we went to see Burn After Reading.  It’s very funny, but also takes a pretty dark turn (for me, at least - I was disconcerted) towards the end.  Still, hilarious.  We had lazy time after that, and just watched TV and relaxed in the hotel room until dinner.  Scott was really tired, so we didn’t do anything crazy at night.  There was a nice sushi place about a block and a half away, and we got several rolls and split a bottle of Riesling.  After dinner, we clocked out at 9:30.

All in all, a good weekend :)
